Volunteer Opportunities for Lunar New Year Celebration February 13, 2010

DESCRIPTIONS

Set Up

Help set up tables, chairs, string lanterns, tents, string lighting, hang banners and assist with traffic before the event.

Shift – 8:30-11am

Crowd Control / Stage Management

Make sure performers have a clear path through crowd to stage, help maintain safety of performers and audience members by keeping stage area clear.

Shifts - 12-2pm / 2-4pm

Info Booth & Scavenger Hunt Raffle Tickets

Greet guests, give out program guides, address guests’ questions (most common questions are regarding location of restrooms and schedule of events), and collect Scavenger Hunt raffle tickets from attendees

Shifts – 11-1pm / 1-3pm / *3-5pm ( * includes some cleanup)

Scavenger Hunt

Go to designated Scavenger Hunt stops located in Chinatown-ID businesses and pass out the next clue to Scavenger Hunt participants.

Shifts – 11-12pm / 12-1pm / 1-2pm / 2-3:30pm

Survey Administrators

Roam event grounds and administer brief Celebration survey.

Shifts – 11:30-1:30pm / 1:30-3:30 pm

Wrap Up

Take down tents, tables, chairs, lanterns, lights, banners, trash pickup and assist with traffic

Shift – 4-5:30pm

Tiger Costume

Walk around event site in a tiger costume greeting attendees and taking pictures.* Lead Children’s Parade Contest from 12:30-2pm shift only. *Parade begins at 1:30 - 2pm

Shifts - 11-12:30 / *12:30-2pm / 2-4pm ( * includes some cleanup)

Cultural Pavillion

Assist children on how to play with Chinese Yo-Yo’s

Assist children with bookmaking

Assist children at coloring page table
