The Chinatown-International District welcomes you to the 2011 Lunar New Year Celebration! The Lunar New Year Celebration is the most important festivity in the Chinese Lunar Calendar and brings thousands of families to participate in authentic cultural activities featuring calligraphy drawing, Chinese yo-yo and games and activities throughout the District. There is nonstop entertainment throughout the day including Lion and Dragon dances, Taiko drumming, martial arts and our second annual Children’s Parade Contest where kiddies can strut their best New Year’s cultural outfit on stage! Bring your family and friends to this exciting and unique cultural experience you can only find in the Chinatown-International District!

Bring
your children and friends to enter into our second annual Children’s Parade
Contest presented by Northwest Asian Weekly where they can show off
their best cultural New Year’s outfit on stage! Parents are welcome to
accompany their children on stage. Judges will announce winners and prizes! You
can preregister on our website by downloading the application or sign up on the

Lunar New Year Food Walk
Calling all International Foodies! Come treat your taste buds while celebrating the Year of the Rabbit on Saturday, January 29th! Restaurants across the Chinatown-ID will be offering a variety of $2 tastes to give you the chance to sample dishes from around the world. Whether it’s Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, or Cambodian–-sample three or more restaurants and you will be eligible to enter a drawing for a grand prize! Simply collect a stamp on this card from each participating restaurant on January 29th and return it to the information booth in Hing Hay Park during the Lunar New Year Celebration!

Live Rabbit Competition
We invite all rabbit owners to bring their furry friend to enter into the Lunar New Year Rabbit Competition to commemorate this year’s animal in the Chinese zodiac! Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite rabbit and the rabbit with the most entries will be crowned the winner! Winning rabbit and prizes will be announced at close of event, need not be present to win. Good luck!
