Safety Ambassador Data Collection
The purpose of the data is to both track the interactions of the ambassadors and also to help paint a clearer picture of what every day life is like in our neighborhood. Note that the data shown should be taken with a grain of salt. The ambassadors work from 2PM-10PM and can only be at one place at a time. Above is a heat map of approximately 200 incidents in the CID/Little Saigon Area.

Column graph of ambassador data September 2025
Here is data of the ambassador program collected since September 2025. This graph shows all of the incidents and interactions the safety ambassadors have had. Each incident can fall under multiple categories. For example:
A business calls the ambassadors to help remove an unhoused individual from their premise.
This would fall under a Business Check-in, De-escalation, Wellness Check, and Removal from Premise because the ambassadors are responding to a call from a business, they are calmly speaking to the unhoused individual to leave the premise, and they negotiating and bartering by offering resources.

Incident comparison August 1st - September 16th
Earlier this month, CIDBIA was able to analyze some of the data leading up to the Public Safety Forum on September 16th, 2025. Note that this data excludes data that is purely a business check-in and wellness check. We were able to see an uptick in incidents during the third week of August. This falls inline with SPD's mass clearing of encampments in Ballard.
Bar graph of incidents tracked by neighborhood Aug 1st -Sept 16th
We can see that the Safety Ambassadors have been hard at work along side numerous businesses within the CID by reporting instances of drug use and also removing unwated individuals from premises.
Remember that you can also do your part by reporting issues of graffiti, illegal dumping/needles, and unauthorized encampments through the Find It Fix It app. This directly notifies the City of Seattle to come fix issues we may be facing. You can find more information about the application here.
Neighborhood updates
Interim CDA is still working with commercial electricians to get lights back on in the parking lot under the freeway along 9th and Jackson/King. Their power lines were tied to SCL’s main that was vandalized and removed a few months ago. The lights on the sidewalks have been fixed in August.
In October there will be construction from Seattle City Lights on 8th Ave / Lane Street to extend the lights to better illuminate the area.
CID CPTED INTERVENTION PROJECT
Over the past two months the CIDBIA, in partnership with SCIDpda and FLS, have been working with numerous businesses in our neighborhood to apply CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles to create a safer environment.
Currently we are helping fix windows/doors and repair/install gates for these businesses:
- Oasis Tea Zone
- 663 Bistro
- Tabletop Village
- Colors Abloom
- Seattle Vision Clinic
- Itsumono
- Howard Dong Building (6th/King)
We are working with the Office of Economic Development through the Back to Business Fund to help reimburse damages to storefronts that have had damages since July 2024. If your business is in need of repairs and security, please contact Christopher.
