Salary Range: $55,000
Location: Seattle, WA | Hybrid

About the organization:
Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area (CIDBIA), a nonprofit community organization (501c3), works to support and enhance the economic health and vitality of Seattle’s historic Chinatown-International District neighborhood. Established in 1994, the CIDBIA provides neighborhood business development and marketing support, coordination of neighborhood major events, clean and safe services, and advocates on behalf of its constituents in public policy, planning, safety, and quality-of-life issues.

Job Summary:
The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will lead the organization’s marketing and communications strategies. The ideal candidate is sharp, likes exploring new ideas, enjoys working with diverse types of people, and passionate about community and economic development. CIDBIA is a small team and it is critical that the Communication and Marketing Coordinator is trustworthy, works well with others, and has a positive attitude.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage public-facing social media platforms to engage and inform the public about neighborhood activities and manage internal-facing social media platforms to inform ratepayers about the organization and its work.
  2. Create content for print and online communications including newsletters, website, social media, and special projects.
  3. Manage and create content for CIDBIA’s two websites.
  4. Manage advertising, social media, and marketing plans around CIDBIA’s two large street festivals and smaller activations.
  5. Lead Event Logistics Contractors on large special events.
  6. Oversee special projects as opportunities arise through grants and other funding opportunities to support and expand activation strategies.
  7. Track and report results and metrics for applicable grants.
  8. Conduct door-to-door outreach to neighborhood businesses for special events, marketing opportunities, or general awareness.
  9. Work in partnership with other neighborhood organizations to manage, implement, or promote public realm activities, programs, and community events.
  10. Work directly with community stakeholders to support marketing and promotions of their businesses.

Experience/Skills

  1. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  2. Demonstrated problem solving skills
  3. Prior experience with event planning, or implementing promotional activities a plus
  4. Experience or skills related to graphic design a plus
  5. Proficient computer skills, Windows Environment, Office Suite

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business or equivalent work experience.
  2. Professional or personal familiarity working in culturally diverse surrounding.
  3. Ability to speak/write Cantonese or Mandarin is a benefit but not required.
  4. Organized with the ability to work independently.
  5. A self-starter with the ability, initiative and willingness to learn.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary is $55,000/year
  • 100% of Employee Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Benefits are covered by Employer; Spouse and Dependent Benefits are available with payroll deduction for cost.
  • Cell phone and travel stipend
  • Retirement contribution equal to 3% of salary
  • 24 days per year of Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 12 Paid holidays
